World number one tennis player, Serena Williams, was disappointed by the comments made director of the Indian Wells tournament, Raymond Moore, who is considered to discredit the women tennis players.

Moore has issued a statement saying the players should men knelt and thanked God for the existence of such a son tennis player Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, which he considers a major role prop up the world of tennis today.

"Obviously I do not think there was a woman who had to kneel down and thank anyone as a statement," said Williams, as reported by Sky Sports.

"I think it is not an accurate statement. There are a lot of women tennis players out there that are very interesting to watch."

Williams even take the example of the party grand slam US Open, when the women's singles final of tickets sold and discharged hired audience before the men's final tickets run out.

"There is only one way to interpret it all. We, as women, ought never to its knees," said Williams asserted.

Moore later issued a statement of apology openly after getting some criticism from various parties.

However, the gender issue is still overshadowing the world of tennis. Particularly the issue of equality of the tournament prize money, which has been debated over the last few years.

In fact, the world number one tennis player, Novak Djokovic, clearly stated there should be a difference between the amount of prize male and female tennis players because of men's tennis match more attention than women's tennis fans.

"Obviously this is a difficult situation. (Tennis) women are entitled to awards and recognition for all they have done. Moreover, equality is the subject of the main prizes in world tennis during the last seven to eight years," said Djokovic.

"They fight for what they deserve. But on the one hand, I think the men's tennis world should be respected more because statistics show we have more supporters in every men's tennis match."
